Description
School schedules are not morally neutral. They profoundly reflect our beliefs and assumptions about children. In Christian schools, they are profoundly theological in a way that most other elements of education are not. Time, as the prime resource of schedules, is not a mechanical device for getting many things done. Rather, it is the gift of a loving God by which we can order our lives, maybe even by which order is created. Schedule in our schools is too often associated with speed, rush, stress, being unable to do all we set out to do, feeling overwhelmed. Our children are impacted deeply by the way in which we use Time in a way that is opposed to the gift of God.
