My passion in Christian education has been fueled by the desire to see the next generation learn Jesus, love Jesus, and live in the freedom of Jesus’ redeeming work. I am in my third decade of leadership having served at Westminster Christian School, Highland Christian School, and currently as Superintendent at Parkview Christian Academy.
I completed a B.A. at Covenant College and an M.A. in Performance and Pedagogy and an M.S. in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University and currently serve on the accreditation commission for Christian Schools International, frequently serving as a site leader.
I have published a book entitled Graciously Unapologetic: A Renewed Way to Be in Christian Schools and I am committed to transparency, accountability, and vulnerability in self and others in order to achieve measurable results of distinctive quality.
My favorite part of my work is leading collaborative discussions around needs, problems and/or dreams – and then empowering and resourcing staff members to forge ahead! That’s why I have felt called to join efforts with Christian School Management to strengthen Christian schools. I think I can speak Truth with Grace in an artful way, when I’ve spent time listening to people and diagnosed the underlying truth in a problem. I’m a good questioner without causing offense, which helps with understanding a problem. I am an avid learner and reader. Other than that, I wake up every morning and put myself before the Lord, because I am not equal to any of the tasks He has given me without Him. And every night I go to bed knowing that I have grown a little bit, have failed many, and then I fall fast asleep resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
I have parented 7 children – 3 biological and 4 adopted – the youngest of whom was adopted as a late teen from Haiti and is now in college. Last year I founded a not-for-profit organization entitled Purposeful Pathways with a mission focus to identify and assist disadvantaged youths toward functional independence. The organization is currently transitioning 4 orphans to adult life by sponsoring job skills and higher education training. I return to Haiti as needed to provide accountability for the youths that are being sponsored and to provide oversight for An Orphan’s Prayer Christian School; a school which I was instrumental in starting.
